We are looking to hire a Senior Engineer to join our team of experts in a dynamic and growing company that is driving the energy transition.


What you will be doing.


As our Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of all engineering projects. They will also be supervising the engineering work done within the ABL Egypt office and will be delegating tasks to the engineers in the department as appropriate. In addition, you will be:
  • Preparing design analyses, concepts, and detail, for various marine and offshore structures in accordance with international codes and standards.
  • Conducting engineering calculations for design and plan appraisal purposes.
  • Assessing & analysing (structural & stability) of marine/offshore structures.
  • Ensuring projects meet client requirements and classification society rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for deliverables to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs, and HSE and in accordance with the quality standards established by ABL and/or the Client.
  • Attending regular internal meetings and external/third-party meetings as required.
  • Ensuring all deliverables are carried out in accordance with ABL policies and procedures.
  • Participating in design reviews, audits, and Naval Architectural-related reviews.
  • Evaluating and preparing concept selection reports and basis for design.
  • Performing structural Finite Element Analysis for a variety of global and local marine structures.
  • Carrying out structural hand calculations according to class rules, as required for the project, across a range of scenarios.
  • Translating engineering results into clear conclusions and presenting these in high-quality technical reports, leading to successful third-party approval/certification of the designed/analyzed structures.
  • Supporting and undertaking tendering activities where possible.
  • Taking part in the engineering documents review as required in the MWS projects and place comments.
  • Partaking in activities to promote the business and develop new clients.
  • Identifying your own & engineering team's training requirements to maintain continued professional development.
  • Mentoring, training, and supervising the engineering team members (subordinates).
  • Generating proposals for engineering services.
  • Coordinating company prequalification requirements.
  • Setting up projects within NetSuite.
  • Coordinating engineering team mobilizations and arranging engineering tools as required.
  • Supporting the review and issuance of final reports.
  • Assisting with the coordination of any software license requirements.
  • Running the day-to-day engineering projects for the office.
  • Document Control handling/delegation on engineering projects.
  • Ensuring office-based implementation and adherence to HR & QHSE policies and other group policies.
  • Supporting general assistance with business development for engineering work.
  • Coordinating any IT requirements related to engineering work.
  • And other duties as assigned.
Specific requirements-
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to focus on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

The role is based in Cairo and the applicant will have the right to work and reside in Egypt.

What we are looking for.


We are looking for driven and solution-oriented professionals with sound technical skills and good decision-making capabilities. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously.
In addition, you will possess the following Qualifications, Work Experience, Technical and Behavioural skills:
Essential-
  • Hold a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 year’s relevant and acceptable work experience in a project management or similar roles within an engineering office environment.
  • Have sound knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards to structural analysis & designs.
  • Working knowledge of basic principles of design.
  • Computer literate and competent in current Microsoft applications with practical experience in Structural Analysis of marine and/or offshore structures.
  • Full understanding of classification societies and their design requirements.
  • Strong drive to excel in the Finite Element discipline, reflected in engagement in collaboration with others, as well as design works and deliverables.
  • Motivated to learn and grow in an international and skilled team of structural engineers, as well as to seize any opportunity to exceed expectations.
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment.
  • Being prepared to meet sensible deadlines.
Desirable-
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a technical subject relevant for the role.
  • Experience in the Offshore industry.
  • Experience using FEMAP with Simcentre Nastran.
  • Authored and gave industry papers/presentations.
  • Authored industry articles.
  • Extensive client base.
